The Spi-Sun Simulator(TM) 4600SLP will also be Available for Demonstration and Testing at Test Center in Munich

BEDFORD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Spire Corporation (SPIR), a global solar company providing turnkey solar factories and capital equipment to manufacture and test photovoltaic (PV) modules and cells worldwide, today announced that key sales and executive staff will attend the 23rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) in Valencia, Spain, September 1-4, 2008. Spire will highlight the Spi-Sun SimulatorTM 4600SLP. This system will be fully operational at the conference located in Hall One, Booth A29 and available for customers to bring their modules and cells for testing.

After the conference, Spire will locate the simulator to a regional test and demonstration center in Munich, Germany at Electronic Production Partners (EPP), Spire’s representative for sales and service of Spire’s module manufacturing equipment in Germany and Northern Europe. The Spi-Sun SimulatorTM 4600SLP represents the latest simulation technology with its long pulse allowing for full saturation of trap sites in new thin film materials. It is well suited for both crystalline silicon and thin film module testing and characterization.

“The European market, especially Germany, Spain, and Italy, is the center of PV demand. From 2006 to 2007, the European PV industry’s capacity grew over 43% and is expected to continue this growth into the foreseeable future. The need to expand Spire’s reach into this critical marketplace is crucial,” said Spire’s Chairman and CEO, Roger Little.

“Our Spi-Sun Simulators are truly leading edge. This year alone, they were chosen by the most technically demanding users, such as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory located in the United States and Underwriters Laboratories located in the both the United States and China. Spire’s Spi-Sun Simulators are used by crystalline silicon module manufacturers worldwide, as well as leading thin film producers such as First Solar,” continued Mr. Little.

At the EU PVSEC, the simulator will be available for demonstration. For those who have an interest in testing their solar modules and cells, and would like to schedule an appointment for testing at the show, please contact Spire at pvevents@spirecorp.com.
